Butterflies are such fascinating subjects.

They flutter about as free spirits, but only after an incredible process of growth and change. These small yet mighty creatures have inspired me through my own challenges, reminding me to have the faith and courage to take on life-fulfilling experiences.

On the grounds surrounding our studio and flagship store in Arcata, California, we’ve planted dozens of flowering trees and bushes and one of my favorite things to do is eat lunch outside or gaze out my window and witness the irresistible charmers adding to the pleasant hum of activity among the gardens.

Unfortunately, butterfly migration and populations are on the decline. This means fewer plants, from flowers to fruit trees, get pollinated. From there, the “butterfly effect” continues – fewer food sources for other species throws the entire system out of balance. So, in true nature-loving fashion, Holly Yashi has decided to do something about it by partnering with Monarch Joint Venture (MJV).

Since 2009, MJV has brought together partners from across the United States in a unified effort to conserve the monarch migration.
